The English department of Premier School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School organized an English recitation contest from February 25 to March 1. It was a successful and fruitful week. All the contestants from Primary 1-6 recited their poems with emotion and flair. Through the competition, the contestants and the audience learnt from one another and improved their reciting skills.

        In preparation for the competition, the coaches and the students spent a lot of time choosing the right material and getting ready for the contest. In order to give the best performance with proper actions and intonation, students needed to understand the meaning of their poems very well. Throughout the English recitation contest week, students learnt to appreciate the art of English poetry and enjoy poems that were brought to life with the passion and vocal expression of their presenters.

The competition was conducted based on their forms. Two representatives from each class were chosen to join the contest. Foreign teachers were invited to be the judges to choose the top three students from each form. After all the performances, the audience was invited to vote for their favourite candidate with chips. As a result, the audience felt more involved in the contest.
